We will be outdoors and in the elements for the duration of your trip. Conditions can change quickly here in Lake Tahoe so it is best to be prepared for a multitude of weather situations. Follow this list closely; it is designed to make your outing safe and comfortable.
Dressing in layers is critical. Synthetic clothing or wool will keep you warm. Cotton should not be an option.
- Lightweight base layers or Thermals.
- Long sleeve tops and bottoms ~ Polypropylene or other synthetic clothing is the best option.
- Comfortable water proof hiking boots or winter boots. Wool or synthetic socks are recommended. No cotton.
- Long sleeve layer/shirt. Wool, Fleece or other synthetic clothing is best
- Ski jacket or other water proof shell
- Ski pants or water resistant pants
- Sun Screen (SPF 30 or higher)
- A warm ski hat or beanie (wool or Fleece)
- Ski Gloves
- A small backpack or hip pack to carry your things
- Ski goggles are recommended if it is snowing heavily.
Tahoe Jack’s Adventure Authority has various snowshoe locations that vary according to weather patterns, snow conditions and fitness levels of your group. Drive times vary from South Lake Tahoe, however all start destinations are within 15 minutes of South Lake Tahoe. Directions to each location are provided upon booking via email to ensure all client’s have a hard copy.
All snowshoe tours take place from 10AM – 2PM daily. Tours may be shortened upon request within the designated time slot. Custom adventures catering to other time schedules may be setup by contacting Tahoe Jack’s Adventure Authority by phone.
Tahoe Jack’s Adventure Authority offers snowshoe adventures for people of all age groups and of varying difficulty levels. Our adventures can range from easy to moderate. Our adventures take place on rolling hill terrain to ensure all of our guests can enjoy the tour and scenery void of any strenuous situations. Typical snowshoe distances range from 2 to 4 miles depending on fitness levels.
Lake Tahoe’s weather patterns vary day to day. However, in the winter months, snow and wind can be a factor. Therefore, you will find that our snowshoeing adventures are held mid morning to mid afternoon. This ensures our snowshoe groups with a optimal time when Lake Tahoe is typically warmer and less windy. Our Snowshoeing adventures will typically run whether it is snowing or sunny outside.
Cancellations made at least 3 days in advance will receive a full refund.
Any Cancellation made with less than 3 days notice will receive a refund, but will incur a $35 Cancellation Fee.
No refund will be given in the event of the following:
- No show or late for departure.
- Staff deems a client not suitable to participate due to ill health, intoxication or poor level of fitness.
- Cancellations made with less than 24 hours of notice.
Tahoe Jack’s Adventure Authority reserves the right to cancel or change any part of any snowshoeing trip. This could be due to, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions. If we cancel the trip due to such reasons you will receive a full refund.
Our guides are experienced, professional, CPR certified and personable. They have extensive training and experience with snowshoeing, Lake Tahoe’s backcountry, outdoor preparedness and safety procedures. We understand that our guides have an extensive impact on both your safety and overall experience with us. Tahoe Jack’s Adventure Authority has an extensive array of snowshoes that are suitable for all age and experience levels. Our snowshoes are stable, user friendly and safe. Our guides will brief you upon arrival of proper snowshoe techniques, best practices and safety precautions before we set out on our journey. As always our guide will be with you the whole way.
We welcome all snowshoe skill levels and offer instruction upon arrival. If this is your first time snowshoeing we welcome you. First timers to snowshoeing often feel comfortable and acclimate very well to snowshoeing immediately. As always, please know your fitness levels and athletic abilities when choosing any tour.
The age requirement for any snowshoe adventure is a minimum age of 8 years. All those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
